This account encourages business owners to save regularly with the SACCO while offering the added benefit of earning interest on their savings annually. Unlike other accounts, Mawa Langa does not offer loan facilities. Instead, it focuses solely on promoting savings and wealth accumulation for business owners.
Requirements:
- Identification: To open a Mawa Langa account, business people must provide a valid form of identification, such as a National ID, driving license, passport ID, or any other recognized ID.
- Registration Fee: There is a one-time registration fee of 2,000 Kwacha to open the account.
- Minimum Monthly Saving: Business owners must demonstrate the ability to save a minimum of 11,000 Kwacha per month to their shares account.
- Non-Redeemable Shares: In addition to regular savings, Mawa Langa account holders are required to maintain non-redeemable shares of 20,000 Kwacha. These shares cannot be redeemed and serve as a long-term investment in the SACCO.
